Spring Has Sprung!

I feel like a say this every week but once again the week has flown by. Bennett had his Spring preschool program this week. He was very excited and did a great job! His favorite part was playing a cardboard guitar during one of is songs. We noticed he was the only one chording and strumming. He may have his Dad's love of the guitar. I am posting a picture of him and his buddies before the program. I tried to get a nice picture without the goofing around but, I finally gave up.

Matt has been working hard to get the yard in shape. We have had quite a bit a rain and it has really gotten green this week. The flowers are starting to bloom and it is fun to be outside. We have new neighbors next door. They have three children about the same age as ours and Emma and Bennett are enjoying running back and forth between houses. Skylar has had a big week. She is now crawling. We get such a kick out of watching her. It is not the traditional crawl yet. It is kind of a limp crawl, her left leg is the traditional crawling leg and the right drags behind extended. On Friday she started with a few scoots and today (Sunday) Emma got her to crimp(crawl/limp) all the way down the aisle at church (after church not during).

Spring Game!

We had a fun time this past weekend at the KSU Spring Game. The Kids loved the carnival! (so did Dad) They are also enjoying soccer. The weather is nicer so it has been more enjoyable to be out there. Skylar is getting closer to crawling. She is also into scooting accross the floor on her bottom to get to what she wants. Whether it is the end table drawer or the register cover in mom and dads bedroom.

Digging for Dinosaurs

Bennett and Emma spent most of their day on Saturday digging for Dinosaur bones. Bennett got a Dinosaur excavating kit for Christmas from Uncle Jeff. They had so much fun finding bones. It was like were hunting for a buried treasure.

It was another fast week. The kids started soccer. They will be going twice a week until the middle of May. Bennett was especially excited since this is his first opportunity to play organized sports.

Emma played with her school friend Abby this week. They always enjoy playing together.
Bennett spent an afternoon building a fort in his room. He pulled his curtains onto his bed and filled it full of stuffed animals.
Skylar's big accomplishments this week were learning how to blow a raspberry, she ate her first Cheerio (which she enjoyed very much), and today was the first day we didn't have to take her out of church. She is growing up so fast!

The Bar has arrived!

After a year or so the basement is finally complete. We had the bar installed this week. We are enjoying our completed family room and very happy with the result. The kids think the fridge and microwave are the best part. Dad of course had fun stocking it. Mom enjoy's having another area to finish decorating. We had a busy week. All the normal activities plus a few extras thrown in. The weather is finally becoming springlike. Emma, Bennett, & Skylar have enjoyed playing outside. Dad was able to spend time working in the yard.

Peek-a-boo, Patty Cake and Bennettisms

Skylar has developed a love for Patty Cake and we finally got it on video last night. If you start saying Patty Cake she starts clapping her hands. That is what she is doing in the picture above. You are also almost guaranteed a smile if you play peek-a-boo. (Though I can't prove it because I can't get it on film. I am too slow). She also really wants to move. She is constantly rocking. The other day she was sitting in the living room while I was making dinner and she had pooped, but I needed to quickly finish dinner. By the time I got to her to change her diaper she had rocked so much, poop had jumped out of the back of her diaper and onto the floor. Oh the joys of parenthood! We tell her daily it is a good thing she is so cute.
Bennett and his Dad got a short cut (hair cut) this week. Bennetts Grandma asked him who cut his hair and he said "Mike the shortcutter." Which made me think it might be fun to share some of what we call Bennettisms with you. I finally started writing them down. I keep a list on the fridge to add to frequently.

Bennettisms.......

  • Icicles = icy colds
  • Head to toe = Hop to toe
  • Electricity = lightricity
  • Recognize/Remember = remeckernize ie. We were pulling into Goodland this summer and Bennett announced that he "remeckernizes this place!"
  • Talking about the barking dogs at Grandma & Grandpa Jensen's " Yeah Grandma has some dogs she wants to shoot at."
  • Under his breath at the dinner table regarding his mom's cooking " Pray, Pray, Pray, not to say something bad."
  • While watching a K-State game with his Dad " Dad the Wildcats aren't just good they're Sonic good."
  • Looking at the mail " Hey Dad Visa; Life takes Visa!"

The funny thing about the last two is he really doesn't watch much tv. He is just really impacted by commercials I guess. He cracks us up daily.

Easter 2008

We had a great Easter. We started the weekend out at church with Easter for kids. The kids had a great time dying eggs, making windsocks, and playing with friends. Sunday there was an egg hunt after church and dinner at Grandma & Grandpa Jensen's.
Skylar is growing like crazy! She is more and more independent everyday. She tries to keep up with her big brother and sister.

Spring Break

We started off Spring Break with a parade and 10k race. Matt ran his 1st 10k in the Aggieville St. Patricks day race! He did a great job and we were all very proud of him. What means the most I think is that he wants to do it again! The kids are enjoying the time off from school and had a fun time playing with cousins for a couple days at Grandma &Grandpa's. We also enjoyed the weather at the zoo one afternoon.
